映画『ピーターラビット(Peter Rabbit)』感想(ネタバレあり)

『ピーターラビット』、今さらですが、スターチャンネルさんで観ました。
これがまたナゾの面白さで、映画で初めて笑い過ぎて汗をかくという体験を…(笑)　だからといって、ただのアホっぽい話でもなく、意外と教育的。
「R-15にした方がいいんじゃね？」的ヤバさはありつつも、少年時代には絶対正義とされる『向こう見ずなポジティブさ』＆絶対強者とされる陽キャさんの危うさをきちんと書いてるところがイイですね。
というわけで、感想に行く前に、まずはざっとあらすじから―――

あらすじ的なもの

ロンドンの老舗百貨店Harrodsの社員トーマス・マグレガー(ドーナル・グリーソン)は支配人に呼び出され、『ついに昇進か！』と勇んで部屋に行くのですが、そこで聞かされたのは、会ったこともない大叔父が亡くなったこと、そして、社長の甥のバナマンが副支配人に決まったことでした。

「あの無能が！？」とキレて大暴れしたトーマスは、頭おかしくなったんじゃねーの？的意味で長期休暇を言い渡され、自宅でバイオリンなんか弾いて―――もとい弾く振りをして(笑)暇をつぶしていたのですが、そこに、役所から大叔父の遺産に関する通知と鍵が届きます。
この土地が高く売れると聞き、「おもちゃ屋が開ける！」と、いきなりやる気出したトーマスさん(笑)、一路ウィンダミアへ。

一方、ピーター達は、『凶悪なマグレガーじいさんが死んで、やっと俺たちの庭を取り戻した！』と、マグレガーさんちでどんちゃん騒ぎ。(ちなみに、ピーターのお父さんはこのじいさんに捕まってパイにされてます。子供が見たら、ちょっとトラウマ級の黒さです)
そこへやってきたトーマスは、悲鳴を上げながらも動物たちを追い払い、家に鉄壁の防御をほどこします。

ちょっと奇麗で天然な隣のお姉さん＝ビア(ローズ・バーン)は、トーマスにそれとなく門を開けておくように言いますが、潔癖性で、カオスな自然が大嫌いなトーマスとしては、彼女がいかにうさぎフリークであっても、野生動物侵入阻止は譲れません(笑)
ピーターの方も、庭どころかビアまで取られそうな気配に、怒りはヒートアップ。従兄弟のベンジャミンが止めても聞きません。
そんなこんなで、ピーターvsトーマスの本気バトルへ―――

しかし、本気が過ぎて、ブラックベリーアレルギーのあるトーマスの口にアレルゲンをぶち込み、トーマスが害獣退治の爆薬を使っていたことをバラそうと起爆ボタンを押すに至って、事態はシャレにならない領域に突入します。
ピーター達が巣穴を作っていた木がビアのアトリエに倒れ、家は半壊。
うさぎ達にそんなことが出来るとは思っていないビアはトーマスを責め、彼を遠ざけます。

ここで初めて大変なことをしたと気付いたピーターは、無茶をしたことを妹達や従兄弟に詫び、自らHarrodsに乗り込んでトーマスを連れ戻します。そして、ビアの前で起爆スイッチを押して見せたところで、ようやく何が起きたかを悟るビア。

そこへ、マグレガー邸の次の入居者がやってきますが、ピーター達は、かつてトーマスに使った電気攻撃と動物たちの大騒ぎで彼らを追い返し、一件落着。
後日、トーマスは玩具屋を開き(多分、Harrodsから客は奪えてないけど(笑))、ビアはその店でピーターラビットの絵を売り始めたのでした。

絶対強者 陽キャさんの落とし穴

この映画、三行で言うと、スリルを好むポジティブな自分に酔い、アレルギー持ちに暴言を吐き、太っちょの従弟ベンジャミンを下僕扱いし、両親亡き後の一家を”自分一人で背負うこと”を当然と考えていたピーターが、実は自分も、人が(ウサギが？)それぞれ持つ様々な力に支えられていたと気づくまでの成長物語です。
でも実はその結論を、ピーターは冒頭でもう喋ってるんですよね↓

“But we will succeed, because each of us plays a vital role specifically tailored to our individual talents(だが、我々は成功する。おのおのが才能を生かした、欠くことのできない重要な役割を担うからだ)”

でも、その後に続くのが、妹や従弟を指さして”Lookout(見張り). Lookout. Lookout. Lookout“、そして自分を指さして”Hero”なわけです(笑)
ものっすごい立て板に水で喋るんですが、言ってることが支離滅裂。

でもラスト近くでは、全く雄弁じゃないんですが、今度は完璧に理解して言ってるんですよね。↓

“I should’ve listened to you, Benjamin.(ベンジャミン、君の言うことを聞くべきだった)
Not just about this, about everything.(このことだけじゃない。全てについてだ)
You’re so much wiser than me.(君は僕よりずっと賢い)
It wasn’t about the garden.(庭のことだけじゃない)
I don’t know where I’d be without you(君がいなかったら、今頃どうなってたか分からない)”

そして、ついでにこんなふうに本音を吐露します。
“Truth is, I’m a little lost without Mum and Dad.(本当は、母さんと父さんが死んで、途方に暮れてた)”

他人の力を認めることが出来れば人を頼ることもできるし、自分が信頼されていると知れば、人は心から力になろうと思います。そしてそれに、結構幸せを感じます。大抵の人が、これはもう本能的に。
世の中には、失敗から意地でも学ばない人が結構いますが、ピーターはこの辺りで改心できたところがスバラシイと思います。
こういう人になりたいですね。

目の前で注射を打たれるまで自分のしたことの意味が分からない

トーマスはブラックベリーアレルギーです。息が苦しくなると言っているので、相当重篤なアレルギー症状です。
しかし、ピーターはこの話を聞いたとき、こう言い放ちます。
“everyone’s suddenly allergic to everything.(どいつもこつも、なんでもかんでもアレルギーって)
“Stop using it as a crutch!(そんなのを言い訳にするな！)”
ベンジャミンは窘めますが、ピーターは聞きません。

そして後日、パチンコでブラックベリーの実がトーマスの口に放り込まれたとき、トーマスは目を剥いて膝をつき、持っていた注射器を腿に突き刺して一命をとりとめます。
多分、ピーターはこのときになってようやく、大変なことをしたと理解したのだと思います。

健康な人というのは、何らかの不具合を抱えた人に対して、それは甘えだという感覚を本能的に持っているような気がします。
不具合を抱えた側も―――まあ、自分も色々ありますが、個人的にできる防御策でなんとかし、人に「こうしてくれ」とは言いません。話すことは、「だから大目に見てくれ」と言っているようなものだからです。これは気持ち的になかなかツライものがあります。
でも、事が深刻になると、やはり話した方が良いし、話された方も素直に話を聞いておかないと、結果的に双方が傷を負うことになりかねません。
トーマスの件も、これでもしトーマスに何かあれば、ピーターの悔恨は『家半壊』というレベルではすまなかったと思います。
ハンデを負った側には「人間、総合的なお役立ちで帳尻が合ってればいい」という諦めが肝心、マジョリティ側は思い込みと決めつけを排することが、お互いの為という気がしますね。

トーマスはなぜビアに惚れたのか？

大自然というカオスの前で途方に暮れ、嫌悪感さえ感じていたトーマスに対し、そのカオスを理解し、付き合う方法を教えた―――もう、これに尽きると思います。(ロンドンに帰って、メモ帳に「ハト、ハト、ハト」と書きつけているのを見て、もう笑っちゃいましたよ)
引っ越し祝いにバードウォッチング用のデカい双眼鏡とか渡して、鳥見せて、”Make sure to mark it down later”とか、いきなり過ぎんだろって感じですが、これが彼には思いっ切りハマってたわけですね。

“What do you miss most about the store?(お店の何を一番懐かしく思う？)”
とビアに聞かれて、彼はこう答えます。
“I miss being helpful(人の助けになること)”
「ちょっとした質問に答えれは、彼らが欲しいものを探してあげられる。とくに、何が欲しいか分かっていない場合が良い」と言うのです。

多分、少々エキセントリックで不器用なところのあった(というかほぼアスペな)彼に、彼の母親も同じことをしたんじゃないかと思います。
その後、両親が亡くなって施設に引き取られたことで、別れた玩具たちと、それに繋がる母親の記憶が、彼にあの道を選ばせることになったんじゃないかと。

そういう意味では、ピーターとは『お母さんの取り合い』モードになってもおかしくないのですが、トーマスの方は家や庭を無秩序に荒らされるのが嫌なだけで、あんまり独占欲的なものは感じません。
ホモサピエンスとしてのアドバンテージか、人の助けになる幸せを知っている方が大人なのか、欲しいものを諦めることに慣れ過ぎたのか、どれなんでしょうか(笑)

ビアはなぜトーマスに惚れたのか？

これはもう、嘘がつけない馬鹿正直さでしょう(笑)
彼はビアと出会う前、社長の甥(超ボンクラ)が先に副支配人になったことに猛然と抗議しますが、それに対して支配人はこう答えます。

“This is Great Britain.(ここはイギリスなの)
It’s practically written in our charter(事実上、それぞれに与えられた権利(特権)で決まってしまうものなの)”

なんとなく理不尽だと思っていても、それをわざわざ指摘する人はそういませんが、彼はこれに我慢がならないわけです。
そして、初対面のビアに対し、「玩具屋を開いて、Harrodsから客を奪ってやる」と豪語します。経緯も説明せずに(笑)
ついでに、”it just got a lot more beautiful“とかなんとか言っておきながら、それがビアではなくて、新しく作った門のことだというわけです。

ビアは、状況から判断するとおそらく”お嬢様”です。どう考えてもろくな収入がない状態で、金持ちが別荘を構える場所に奇麗な家なんて持ってるわけですからね。背中が痒くなるようなお世辞や、美辞麗句の裏での腹の探り合いやマウンティングは嫌ほど経験している筈です。
「美しさが増した」と言われて「私のことかと」と言っちゃうあたり、基本的には正直な人ですが、だからこそ非常に中途半端な状態にあるんじゃないかと思います。家族には格好つけて、本当の絵を描くと言って飛び出しておきながら、家族の金であの家に住み、結果は全く出せていない。

少々おかしなところはあるものの、施設の出身で単身あそこまで這い上がり、思ったことは空気読まずに口に出す。しかも高級百貨店の社員ですから、あり得ないよううな下品なことは絶対にやらない。これはストライクゾーンど真ん中だったんじゃないかと思います。
しかも、ビア自身がやりたいことを持ってるので、トーマスが病的に仕事にのめり込む時期があっても、多分生暖かい目で静観できるような気がします。
もう末永くお幸せにという感じですね(笑)

とにかくギャグがツボ過ぎる

この映画、なんで可笑しいのか分からないけど、とにかく可笑しいという小ネタがてんこ盛りです。

“but all the real scars will be on the inside?(でも、本当の傷が残るのは心なのよ)”の後、ちょっと間があって”Sorry you had to hear that”とか、

鹿が”Headlights……“で動けなくなるところとか(後で、ライト無くても同じように固まって、突っ込み受けてるところとか)、

トーマスがウサギ相手に、勝ち誇ったような口調で脅しをかけた後、超混乱した顔になって”Why am I talking to wildlife?(何で僕は、野生動物に話しかけてるんだ？)”とか、

なぜか明日が来ないと思い込んで刹那的に生きてて、朝が来るたび動揺してるニワトリとか、
“豚さんのThe diet starts now(ダイエットは今からスタート)”の後、フレームアウトしてもまだ“now“エンドレスリピート状態とか、

最初は『みんなのうた』っぽいノリで歌ってた雀さんたちが、バトルがヒートアップしてきた辺りでラッパーみたいになってるとか、

トーマスを探しにロンドンに来たのに、地元民のネズミに乗せられて、ユニオンフラッグのハットに、同じカラーのサングラスという超お上りさんルックになってるとか、

Harrodsに入ろうとしてたご老人の“Do you?“の繰り返しとか―――

もう数えればきりがなくて、まさに３分に１回は笑が来る感じ。
ご老人の件は、最初の一回は『関係ない人が背中押してくれる』系のいい話臭満載だったのに、二回目のあれで台無し(笑)
鹿が固まる件は、あれ多分結構問題になってて、ホントは笑ってる場合じゃないと思うんですけど、…まあ笑うなって方が無理ですよね。
ニワトリは、ラストですごい子煩悩なパパになってるのがウケました。(まあ、あんなもんですよね)

おかげで、室温21℃だったんですが、見終わったらなんか、下着のヒートテックが冷たいんですよ(笑)

まあ、そんなこんなで、自分的には最強のコメディ―――かつ、結構見どころのある映画でした。(欲を言えば、エンドロールの途中で、倒れた木を立て直すシーンだけは入れないで欲しかったですけど…。一度やらかしたことは、元には戻りませんからね。嫌でも、そこからまた始めるしかありません)
余談ですが、今週末、スターチャンネルさんで『Split』やります。『ミスター・ガラス』見て、頭に？マーク飛んだ方は是非！
